Take the next step in your Special Education teaching career with a rewarding contract opportunity in Oakland, CA. We are seeking two dedicated professionals to join elementary school teams, focusing on students in K-2 with moderate to severe needs, primarily Autism. Each classroom benefits from the support of two paraprofessionals and resources for collaboration, helping you make an impact in an inclusive, team-oriented environment.

As part of this role, you'll work a consistent full-time schedule (35 hours weekly, 6.5 hours/day with a 30-minute lunch), from August 10, 2026, through May 27, 2027. You’ll provide specialized instruction, utilizing evidence-based tools such as TeachTown and TEACCH, while enjoying manageable caseloads (capped at 10 students).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active California Moderate/Severe (Mod/Severe) Education Specialist credential—this is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students on the Autism spectrum, especially in K-2 or elementary classroom settings.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the TeachTown and TEACCH approaches.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with paraeducators and support staff.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and develop IEPs tailored to diverse learner needs, focusing on autism-related strategies and supports.
  • Actively collaborate with paraprofessional staff and related service providers.
  • Create and adapt materials and routines based on TeachTown and TEACCH frameworks.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with families and contribute to the broader school community.

This highly supportive, resource-rich setting provides an opportunity for both professional and personal fulfillment. Pay ranges from $50 to $60 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and district guidelines.

Bring your expertise and compassion to make a real difference in young learners’ lives. Apply today to secure your spot in this impactful role!
