Position Overview
Our client in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist with hands-on experience processing multi-state, multi-location payroll for medium to large employee populations. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of payroll experience, including responsibility for running payroll for 500+ employees in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
This role operates on 1st shift and offers an excellent opportunity to convert to a permanent position with a growing, reputable organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle payroll for 500+ employees across multiple states and locations.
- Review, audit, and reconcile payroll data for accuracy each pay period.
- Ensure all timekeeping data, adjustments, commissions, bonuses, and special payments are accurately captured.
- Verify compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws, including multi-state tax requirements.
- Investigate discrepancies, resolve payroll issues, and provide timely follow-up to employees and management.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and department managers to validate employee changes, hours worked, and payroll adjustments.
- Process new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and other employee life-cycle updates within payroll systems.
- Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information with discretion.
- Contribute to process improvements and support payroll best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
- Multi-state and multi-location payroll experience required.
- Experience running payroll for 500+ employees (weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly).
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, garnishments, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency with payroll systems (ADP, Workday, Paycor, or similar).
- Strong Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables preferred).
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

- Shift: 1st shift, full-time
- Pay Rate: $28-$30 per hour, based on experience
- Type: Contract-to-hire
- Location: Cincinnati, Ohio (onsite or hybrid based on client requirements)
