Customer Services Representative: Authorization and Coding
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to file, maintain records, understanding of reimbursement requirements, good typing and telemarketing skills.
  2. Skills: Basic MS Excel, Word and 10-key skills required.
  3. High school education is required with a minimum of two years junior college (all business courses) preferred.
  4. Minimum two (2) years’ administrative experience in medical/dental field preferred.
  5. Effective verbal and written communication skills with understanding of medical terminology/coding, insurance verification, and understanding of explanation of benefits.
  6. Knowledgeable in all major insurance carrier reimbursement guidelines and eligibility for coverage by third party payers.
  7. Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team.
  8. Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
  9. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Must be organized, accurate and show precise attention to detail.

Responsibilities
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adhere to and implement all company policies and procedures and compliance with all accreditation standards.
  2. Take all appropriate actions to ensure company compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Review client documents for accuracy and ensure that all codes are current and active.
  4. Ensure proper coding on provider documentation and that all documents are procured in a timely manner with daily follow up to doctor offices and insurance companies.
  5. Submit proper documentation to insurance companies for new and/or renewal authorizations.
  6. Update and maintain client ordering and billing profiles with current authorization information for all items supplied to client.
  7. Maintain and file all client documentation as specified in company policy.
  8. Responsible for accurately loading all client information into working system, generating all documentation following coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  9. Maintain a strong working knowledge of products & services, funding sources and company policies & procedures.
  10. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of specific requirements for supplies provided.
  11. Participating in Continuing Education Courses to increase knowledge and Productivity in topics such as: Medical Terminology, Funding Sources Criteria, Computer training, Complex Rehab –Equipment (General Knowledge), Customer Service –Phone skills/Handling Complaints.
  12. Respond quickly and professionally to customer inquiries and complaints.
  13. Be responsive and courteous to all telephone inquiries.
  14. Ensure compassionate and positive interactions with customers.
  15. Understand and practice the rules regarding client confidentiality, HIPAA, and compliance and safety.
  16. Deal effectively with stress, maintaining calmness when crisis situations occur.
  17. Interact with and be a positive influence on co-workers.
  18. Take the initiative to improve processes and communication in the workplace.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting, standing, and walking in the office and throughout facility
  • Operation of office machinery and equipment
  • Occasionally lift/move items up to 40 pounds
  • Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision


Requirements
Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
English communication skills - written and spoken
2 years minimum administrative experience in a medical/dental office
