Role: Host
Part Time
Compensation: $15.00 per hour

The Host is the first point of contact for guests and plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and positive dining experience. This position is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, assisting with dining room flow, and providing support to both guests and team members. A successful host/hostess maintains a friendly, professional demeanor while ensuring smooth front-of-house operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet all guests promptly and courteously upon arrival.

  • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus.

  • Manage the reservation system and waitlists efficiently.

  • Assist in setting up and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining area.

  • Communicate special requests, complaints, or compliments to the Food & Beverage Manager on duty.

  • Accommodate guests with special needs or accessibility requirements.

  • Attend daily staff meetings and pre-shift briefings (“cue calls”).

  • Assist servers with water and coffee service, clearing tables, and fulfilling guest requests when needed.

  • Respond calmly and effectively to guest emergencies or incidents.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

  • Work collaboratively with the service team and assist co-workers as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.


Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service or restaurant experience preferred but not required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Friendly, energetic, and guest-focused attitude.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the dining area.


Work Environment:

This position operates in a restaurant or dining room setting. The role requires standing, walking, and interacting with guests for the majority of the shift. Occasional lifting of light items such as menus, coffee pots, or tableware may be required.
