Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site leadership position based at our facility in Kountze, Texas. We are seeking a hands-on Plant Manager who operates directly from the production floor—not from an office.

You will take full ownership of daily production, uptime, yield, and team performance across three production lines. Your primary mission is to drive daily throughput toward and beyond a ~40 MBF baseline, eliminate operational bottlenecks, ensure equipment reliability through rigorous preventive maintenance, and uphold a zero-compromise safety culture.

Core Skills & Competencies

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate mastery in the following:

• Operational Leadership: Sawmill Management, High-Output Manufacturing, and Workforce Discipline.
• Production Strategy: Real-time Resource Allocation, Production Leveling, and Throughput Optimization.
• Technical Maintenance: Mechanical Troubleshooting (Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Conveyors), Preventive Maintenance (PM) Scheduling, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Performance Metrics: Expert tracking of MBF/day, Recovery Rates, MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), and Scrap Reduction.
• Safety & Compliance: Strict OSHA Compliance, Hazard Identification, and Industrial Risk Mitigation.
• Logistics & Supply Chain: Raw Material Flow Management, Inventory Control, and Quality Assurance of finished lumber.
• Process Improvement: Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen) applied to rugged industrial settings.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years in sawmill, wood processing, or heavy manufacturing operations.
• Operational Expertise: Proven track record running high-throughput production environments (specifically wood products).
• Leadership: Ability to lead from the floor, manage diverse crews, and build a culture of accountability.
• Mindset: A "Doer" with a strong bias for action in physically demanding, high-heat, and high-noise environments.
• Requirement: Direct, hands-on plant-floor experience is mandatory. Candidates expecting an office-based role need not apply.
