Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Credentialing Specialist to manage the full credentialing lifecycle for healthcare providers. This role will support a healthcare center by ensuring all physicians and allied health professionals meet regulatory, accreditation, and organizational credentialing requirements.
The Credentialing Specialist will handle credentialing processes independently while providing updates to leadership, allowing the HR/Credentialing Manager to oversee operations at a high level.
Key Responsibilities
Manage initial credentialing and re-credentialing for physicians and allied health professionals
Verify and maintain provider licenses, board certifications, DEA registrations, malpractice insurance, and other required credentials
Monitor and track expiring licenses and certifications and report discrepancies
Maintain and update the provider credentialing database
Ensure compliance with AAAHC, CMS, and CDPH regulatory requirements
Coordinate new provider onboarding, including scheduling facility tours, system access, and training
Prepare agendas, minutes, and documentation for Credentialing Committee meetings
Conduct credentialing audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Respond to verification requests from external organizations and healthcare facilities
Communicate provider status updates such as new providers, resignations, and retirements
Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of administrative or clerical experience, preferably within a healthcare environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification
Knowledge of AAAHC standards and CDPH regulations
Experience using CredentialStream credentialing software is highly preferred but not required
?? Client Note: The team recently implemented CredentialStream as their credentialing platform. Experience with this system is preferred; however, training may be provided if needed.
Additional Details
This is expected to be a 6-month assignment, with a review around 4 months to determine potential next steps.
There is strong potential for temp-to-hire depending on performance and business needs.
The client is seeking someone who can take ownership of the credentialing process and manage day-to-day responsibilities independently.
