Job Description

We are seeking experienced construction laborers to join our team on various new construction sites, focusing on utility and site construction projects. The ideal candidate will have over 2 years of experience working on road, site, civil, and utility construction projects. This role requires a willingness to travel within the central and Eastern parts of New York and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with excavation, trenching, and site preparation for utility installations.
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment.
• Operate basic hand and power tools safely.
• Support pipefitters, electricians, and heavy equipment operators as needed.
• Perform backfilling, compacting, and grading to restore work areas.
• Install and maintain temporary structures, such as barricades and safety signage.
• Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean, hazard-free work environment.
• Assist in final site cleanup and preparation for inspections.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a construction laborer on road, site, civil, and utility construction projects.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of construction tools and techniques.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction or utility work preferred.
• Ability to operate basic hand and power tools safely.

Work Environment

Candidates will report to the shop by 6:15 am, meet with the site supervisor, and depart to the construction site. Work is primarily outdoors, requiring adaptability to various weather conditions, including rain, snow, cold, heat, and wind. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work. Overtime is frequent, ranging from 2 to 20 hours per week, depending on project needs. The team size varies, and candidates will report to a foreman or project superintendent.

This is a Contract position based out of Syracuse, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
