Merlin Industries is a boutique supplemental service company in NYC. We are seeking an Evening Operations Manager to join our team! You will be responsible for conducting and coordinating proper janitorial and facility cleaning and maintenance along with support of the client according to Merlin standards of operations. The ideal candidate should have general cleaning and maintenance skills (carpets, hard flooring, fabric, etc.) and must be able to work an evening shift 4:30/5:00PM – 12:30/1:00AM Mon-Fri.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure all equipment is in good working order and perform general maintenance if required. Recommend the purchase of new equipment when needed.
- Provide inventory maintenance of supplies and restocking when needed.
- Maintain a strong relationship with the various building facilities staff and security teams.
- Train new employees to ensure that the final work product meets quality standards.
- Ability to travel around NYC in a van – adhering to all traffic and parking regulations.
- Manage staffing challenges on short notice by adjusting schedules.
- Perform a diagnostic analysis of any issue and attempt to provide a solution while on-site.
- Provide evening coverage/supervision to ensure on-site workers are completing assigned tasks to an acceptable standard and report any issues to the home office.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to navigate about NYC in a van or using mass transit.
- Must be able to communicate (written and verbal) in English. Some Spanish is preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a work van.
- Practical familiarity with commercial cleaning products and safety procedures.
- Minimum of 3-5 years performing as a supervisor or manager within the commercial cleaning or facilities management field
- Proven track record of reliability and dependability
- Some weekend work will be required on a rotational basis.
