Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is needed to provide essential communication support within a school environment located in Esko, MN. This role requires the ability to facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff, ensuring an inclusive and accessible educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities.
- Support access to educational content by collaborating with teachers and staff to accommodate students' needs.
- Attend meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and extracurricular events as required, providing interpretation services.
- Travel to various school locations within the district to assist assigned students.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills.
- Experience working in educational settings preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations.
- Flexibility to travel between schools within the district.
