Job Description

A Pediatric LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) provides routine care to children under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Their duties include assisting with medical tasks, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and educating families on health-related matters.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Patient Care: Assisting with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
  • Medication Administration: Administering medications, injections, and immunizations as prescribed.
  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Taking and recording vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and respiration.
  • Medical Records Management: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, including electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Patient Education: Providing education and guidance to patients and families on medication instructions, at-home care, and health maintenance.
  • Assisting with Procedures: Helping with procedures, tests, and treatments, such as drawing blood or administering injections.
  • Wound Care: Assisting with wound care and dressing changes.
  • Hygiene Assistance: Assisting with basic hygiene and personal care.
  • Safety and Observation: Monitoring patients for any changes in their condition or vital signs and reporting concerns to the RN.
  • Emotional Support: Providing emotional support to children and their families during challenging times.
  • Communication: Communicating effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, symptoms, and vital signs.
  • Following Protocols: Adhering to all applicable healthcare regulations, standards, and policies.
  • Assisting with Testing: Helping prepare patients for tests and procedures, and assisting with the collection of specimens.
  • Hygiene and Personal Care: Assisting patients with bathing, dressing, and other personal care tasks.
  • Emergency Situations: Responding promptly to patient calls and emergency situations.
  • Maintaining a Clean Environment: Ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and healthcare facilities.
  • Medical Equipment: Assisting in setting up and operating medical equipment.
