Job Description

A health services organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their growing Pediatric Care team at one of their Brooklyn facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen (walk-in/telephone and schedule appointments) patients and make the appropriate referral for services required
  • Perform venipuncture for tests as outlined in AHS policy and procedures manual and as ordered by the Physician
  • Assist the Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse with case management activities as assigned and documents actions taken
  • Assist the medical staff with treatment and diagnostic procedures
  • Perform EKGs and venipuncture on patients
  • Monitor equipment and supplies for clinic session, assuring adequate quantities are available
  • Perform patient care follow ups, including checking on broken appointments, confirming appointments or tests by telephone, etc.
  • Act as a liaison for patients and their families and/or significant others; provide psychological support, as needed
  • Appropriately obtain specific visit type information or intake in order to prepare patient adequately for physicians examination (i.e., vision test, urine pregnancy test, glucose monitoring)
  • Report malfunctioning equipment promptly to supervisor
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program
  • NYS Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • BLS Certification
  • 1+ years Pediatric work experience
  • Venipuncture
  • Experience working with the Pediatric population
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Desired Skills:

  • 1 year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Previous experience in an Ambulatory setting
