Job Description

The Harris-Stowe State University Coordinator of Athletic Eligibility and Compliance is responsible for monitoring and facilitating academic eligibility and progress toward degree completion for all student-athletes. This includes oversight of enrollment status, percentage of degree completion, designation of majors and minors, class registration, and NAIA eligibility requirements. This position will send and respond to athletic tracers and will assist with NAIA ROA reporting.

This position will work closely with the Faculty Athletics Representative, Registrar, academic advisors, coaches, and athletic department staff to support and enhance the academic experience of all student-athletes. Additionally, the Coordinator will assist in the oversight of Champions of Character initiatives and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors the academic eligibility and progress towards degree of all student-athletes including full-time enrollment, percentage of degree credits, designation of majors and minors, and class registration.

  • Maintains institutional control of the compliance system for the University’s athletic program.

  • Develops procedures and policies to monitor and ensure compliance with all NAIA and conference rules and regulations.

  • Verifies student eligibility to participate in university athletics.

  • Assist with investigating and reviews alleged NAIA and conference rule violations and communicates findings to the appropriate parties as a liaison between the athletic program and the NAIA.

  • Work closely with admissions, academic advising, and registrar

  • Assist with Champions of Character initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Athletic Director

  • Promote philosophy of the athletic department and Harris-Stowe State University


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree; Masters degree preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of working experience with NAIA academic eligibility either as a collegiate coach, and/or athletic staff eligibility personnel OR equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of college athletics and demands of student athlete
  • Ability to handle extremely confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and make value judgements
  • Demonstrate strong computer, organizational, verbal and written


Other Required Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365
