Port Engineer
Job Summary
This influential shoreside leadership role is ideal for a professional with a deep understanding of vessel systems, maintenance, and operations. You will play a critical part in ensuring vessel performance, safety, and reliability, working closely with senior vessel leadership to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of assigned vessels
- Lead drydockings, winter layups, and major repair projects
- Manage budgets for repairs, spares, and capital improvements
- Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS, and other regulatory requirements
- Provide technical support to vessel crews and leadership
- Monitor vessel performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Sailing experience as Chief Engineer or First Assistant Engineer is strongly preferred, or solid shoreside marine engineering/port engineer experience
- Graduate of a Maritime Academy is preferred
- Strong understanding of vessel systems, maintenance, and repair cycles
- Experience with drydockings, troubleshooting, and project execution
- Familiarity with USCG and ABS regulations
- TWIC certification or ability to obtain
