Key Responsibilities
Plant Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Own weekly and monthly P&L accuracy, including estimates, journal entries, and variance analysis
- Produce and review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for plant leadership, executives, auditors, and bankers
- Review financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness, including cash flow and income statements
Inventory, Production & Cost Accounting
- Oversee inventory, raw materials, WIP, production, shipping/sales accuracy, and reconciliation between plant floor activity and financial reporting
- Interpret and support accounting and inventory cycles and process flows across multiple business transactions
- Analyze yield, margins, and production costs; support cost models and profitability analysis
Month-End Close, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Play a key role in annual budgeting and ongoing forecasts
- Ensure all accounting deadlines are met and reporting is prepared accurately and on time for corporate leadership
Business Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Research, track, and resolve accounting discrepancies and documentation issues
- Provide financial insights and recommendations based on income statement analysis and performance trends
- Partner cross-functionally to improve systems, processes, productivity, and cost efficiencies
Leadership & Communication
- Serve as a financial voice within the Plant Management Team
- Present financial results and recommendations to plant and corporate leadership, including navigating complex or sensitive topics
- Collaborate proactively with operations, supply chain, and corporate accounting teams
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Controller (or equivalent) within a large-scale manufacturing environment (300M+ revenue preferred)
- Food manufacturing experience required; protein industry experience strongly preferred
Technical Skills
- Experience working with recognized accounting software; Sage 500 ERP strongly preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Solid understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory control, and financial reporting
