Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification and minimum 2+ years Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This surgical technologist role offers a dynamic opportunity to support invasive surgical procedures in a hospital setting located in Ellsworth, ME. Operating under the direct supervision of a surgeon, the technologist plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and efficient operating room environment, ensuring instruments and supplies are prepared and handled according to the highest sterile technique standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and verify surgical instruments and supplies needed for procedures.
  • Scrub, gown, and glove self, surgeon, and assistants to maintain sterility.
  • Perform surgical counts with the circulator before incision and prior to closing.
  • Assist in draping the sterile field and passing instruments to the surgeon as needed.
  • Uphold the highest standards of sterile technique throughout procedures.
  • Assist with terminal cleaning of the operating room and preparation of instruments for sterilization.
  • Help prep the surgical suite promptly for subsequent patients.
  • Support training and mentoring of new employees and students in the surgical technologist role.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Completion of Trade or Technical School with a Certificate or Diploma in Surgical Technology.
  • Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  • At least one year of prior surgical technologist experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
