Job Title: Pump Truck Driver

Location: St. George, Utah
Pay: $22 - $26 per hour (based on experience)
Training Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Pump Truck Driver to join our team in St. George, Utah. This role involves operating specialized vacuum trucks to pump, transport, and dispose of liquid waste from grease traps, car washes, oil-water separators, storm drains, septic tanks, and more.

The ideal candidate must have a valid CDL (Class B with tanker endorsement), a clean driving record, and the ability to perform physically demanding work. New hires will be required to complete 2 week training in Salt Lake City, Utah before starting in St. George.

This is a full-time position that requires strong attention to safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Waste Removal & Pumping Operations

  • Operate pump trucks to remove liquid and solid waste from grease traps, car washes, oil-water separators, storm drains, and septic tanks.
  • Ensure proper truck positioning and setup for safe and efficient waste removal.
  • Handle waste materials safely, following environmental and regulatory guidelines.

2. Waste Transport & Disposal

  • Safely transport waste to approved disposal facilities in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Follow all DOT and environmental compliance guidelines while on the road and at disposal sites.

3. Equipment Inspections & Maintenance

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking fluid levels, brakes, tires, and pump systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on trucks and pumping equipment to prevent malfunctions.
  • Ensure all hoses, valves, and truck components are in proper working order before and after each job.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state safety regulations related to liquid waste handling.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow proper waste containment procedures.
  • Respond to spills or leaks promptly, following company cleanup protocols.

5. Customer Interaction & Service

  • Communicate with business owners and facility managers to confirm service requirements.
  • Provide customer education on grease trap and septic system maintenance.
  • Ensure customers receive professional, timely, and courteous service.

6. Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate service logs, disposal records, and job reports using company-provided apps.
  • Record waste volumes removed, service locations, and any customer-specific notes.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or service issues immediately.

7. Emergency & On-Call Response

  • Be available for emergency service calls (such as clogged or backed-up systems).
  • Respond to urgent spill cleanups in compliance with safety protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class B with tanker endorsement required.
Clean driving record – No major violations.
✅ Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug test, and background check.
Training in Salt Lake City, Utah is required before starting in St. George.
Physical ability – Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 75 lbs, handle heavy hoses, and work in outdoor conditions.
Mechanical knowledge – Basic ability to troubleshoot and maintain truck and pump equipment.
Customer service skills – Strong communication and professionalism when working with clients.
Ability to work independently – Must be self-motivated and capable of managing service routes efficiently.

Working Conditions:

Work Environment – Outdoor, field-based role servicing restaurants, food processing facilities, car washes, and commercial sites.
Schedule – May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and emergency on-call shifts.
Physical Demands – Requires lifting heavy hoses, maneuvering equipment, and working in varying weather conditions.
Exposure – Work may involve strong odors, grease, fats, and wastewater; proper PPE and safety adherence are required.

Compensation & Benefits:

Pay: $22 - $26 per hour (based on experience).
Location: St. George, Utah (training required in Salt Lake City).
