POSITION: Human Resources Generalist
FLSA: Exempt DEPARTMENT: Finance and Admin-works for GUW Leadership
STATUS: Fulltime

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing and administering Granite United Way human resources functions and providing support to management in the development and implementation of policies that apply with all applicable regulations and are consistent with Granite United Ways mission and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefit Administration:
Administrator of BambooHR system for maintaining all employment and personnel records

Onboarding coordination and processing, working closing with Finance department for payroll processing purposes

Year-round benefits administration, working closely with Finance department Support recruiting efforts and oversee the hiring process for the organization utilizing BambooHR

Process leaves of absences and ensure compliance with FMLA requirements

Point of contact for injury reports and Workers Compensation claim paperwork

Act as first point of contact for employee inquiries

Employee handbook compliance and updating

Human Resources and culture:

Maintain knowledge of local, state and federal employment law and regulations, trends and best practices and supporting Leadership in ensuring compliance with legal requirements

Coordinate annual performance review process through BambooHR and process any Change of Status forms

Annual open enrollment coordinating and processing, working closely with CFO and insurance broker
Work closely with Management on training needs and recognition initiatives
Staff the GUW Safety Committee and GUW HR Committee

Organize All-Staff meetings and events

Completes employment verification requests

Encourage positive, effective working relationships and open communication, visit all GUW locations periodically

Conduct exit interviews and communicate results with management

Support Leadership/Management with handling disciplinary matters, performance improvement plans, disputes and workers compensation issues, take prompt, appropriate action to respond to conflicts if they arise

Conduct periodic non-profit wage and salary research to ensure that GUW is able to attract and retain qualified staff

Oversee state and school requirements for internship positions

OTHER DUTIES:

Ability to represent GUW at social, civic and business events, some of which are outside of general business hours.

Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Undergrad degree from accredited college or university

2. SHRM or HRCI certification with at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources Management

3. Non-profit experience required

4. Scrupulous attention to detail

5. Must be able to ensure strict confidentiality of sensitive information

6.Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

7.Ability to lead, as well as work within, a team to ensure organizational growth and success

8.Strong facilitation skills and collaborating skills


ENVIRONMENT:
The venue of this position is a general office environment that is clean, well lighted, environmentally comfortable, free of fumes or airborne particles, and only minimally exposes employees to office solvents limited to those relative to copier equipment.
This position requires the ability to:
1. Minimal requirement to reach at or above shoulder level; occasional reaching below shoulder level required

2. Hand manipulation - equipment and controls, frequent; grasping and handling, occasional

3.Ability to travel throughout the territory required

4.Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include night and weekends

5.Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and/or standing and to lift up to approximately 50 pounds to waist high level whenever necessary.

6.Mobility includes regular sitting, some standing and walking.
