Summary
Mālamalama Waldorf School is on the east side of the beautiful island of Hawai’i and is accepting applications for a First Grade Teacher for the 2023/2024 school year whose love for children is complimented by their ability to work well with colleagues and parents. We are looking for individuals with enthusiasm and commitment to Waldorf Education to be guiding forces in our welcoming school.
Duties
Duties include:
- Delivering a developmentally appropriate, Waldorf-based first grade curriculum
- Creating a nurturing, rhythm-based classroom environment
- Maintaining classroom management with warmth, clarity, and consistency
- Assessing and tracking student progress and development
- Preparing seasonal festivals, student performances, and classroom presentations
- Communicating regularly and collaboratively with parents and colleagues
- Participating in faculty meetings, school festivals, and professional development
Requirements
Ideal candidates will be experienced Waldorf educators, have completed Waldorf training, and hold a bachelor’s degree or higher. Previous Waldorf teaching experience is preferred. We are seeking individuals with a commitment to excellence in teaching along with excellent communication skills providing parent education and working collegially. Our first grade teacher will have a passion for working with youth while holding a vision of carrying this class through the 8th grade. Other valued traits would be artistic and musical abilities, social dynamic skills, a sturdy presence, and strong organizational skills for conducting a combined grades class.
