Position Overview
Sean’s Consulting Service LLC is seeking an experienced Electrical Heavy Machine Operator (1099 Contractor) to support underground electrical and low-voltage installation projects. This role involves operating trenchers, excavators, skid steers, boring machines, and related heavy equipment to complete conduit and power infrastructure installations in accordance with NEC, TxDOT, and local standards.
Scope of Work / Responsibilities
- Safely operate trenchers, excavators, skid steers, and boring machines for installation of electrical and communications conduit.
- Excavate trenches and backfill per engineered drawings and specifications.
- Set handholes, pull boxes, and electrical vaults in coordination with electrical crews.
- Read and interpret site plans, elevations, and utility markings.
- Assist with conduit placement, wire pulling, and installation of electrical components as directed.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and minor repairs.
- Maintain organized and safe job sites in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors and project managers to align daily goals and timelines.
- Load, transport, and secure equipment and materials as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years operating heavy equipment for electrical, utility, or fiber projects.
- Knowledge: Understanding of underground conduit systems, trench safety, and depth requirements.
- Licenses/Certifications:

- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
- Heavy Equipment Operator Certification a plus.
- Tools/Equipment: Must have access to personal PPE and basic tools; company equipment will be provided for major operations.
- Work Environment: Outdoor construction environments, varying weather conditions, occasional night or weekend shifts as required.
Contract Type and Pay
- Status: Independent 1099 Contractor
- Pay Structure: Per-project rate (based on experience and scope)
- Compensation Range: Competitive, commensurate with experience and equipment operation proficiency.
- Contractor is responsible for own taxes, insurance, and transportation unless otherwise stated in the project agreement.
Preferred Background
- Prior experience working on municipal, or commercial electrical projects.
- Familiarity with underground electrical infrastructure, encased conduit, and ITS/fiber systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
