Electrical Engineer Nuclear/Power Generation

The Opportunity
As an Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead, providing guidance and expertise to project teams.

  • Develop design change packages for operating nuclear or power generation facilities, delivering solutions for a sustainable future.

  • Develop electrical drawing deliverables, including:

    • One-line and three-line diagrams

    • Electrical motor schematics, breaker control schematics, and wiring diagrams

    • Power cable sizing and cable schedules

    • Complex engineering calculations such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting (ETAP or SKM), Arc flash analysis (ETAP or SKM), protective relay settings, battery and charger sizing

    • Schematics, interconnection diagrams, and equipment layouts

  • Develop electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.

  • Create man-hour budgets and project schedules.

  • Attend on-site meetings, investigate existing conditions, interface with stakeholders, and provide construction support.

  • Utilize Microsoft Office, electrical engineering software (ETAP), and CAD tools (AutoCAD) for engineering deliverables.

This opportunity is located at our World Headquarters in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and organizational policies.

  • Provide technical guidance to team members and ensure compliance with quality programs.

  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables, perform research, and develop equipment/material recommendations.

  • Conduct engineering calculations and manage project budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

  • Delegate tasks to junior team members and review their work.

  • Coordinate with internal and external project team members on moderately complex projects.

  • Identify key client interests and drivers, and support business development activities.

  • Act as a technical specialist, providing consultation and guidance on complex engineering challenges.

  • Mentor junior professionals, participate in career planning, and support resource management strategies.

  • Handle administrative responsibilities such as timesheet approvals and process adherence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas or other relevant states.

  • Project Lead experience and technical SME in nuclear plant design.

  • Nuclear Power Plant or infrastructure power distribution design experience for power-generating facilities (Power Plants, Industrial Plants, Manufacturing Plants).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
