An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in Elementary Self-Contained Exceptional Student Education (ESE). This full-time contract position is based onsite in Jacksonville, FL, within Duval County Public Schools. The role involves working with elementary students presenting various learning levels and exceptionalities, providing tailored instructional support to foster their academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage an elementary self-contained ESE classroom.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on students' unique learning needs.
  • Collaborate with professionals, families, and support staff to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt teaching strategies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with state and district special education policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Florida Special Education certification.
  • Valid K-6 or PK-3 General Education certification.
  • Proven experience working in a self-contained special education setting at the elementary level.
  • Ability to address diverse exceptionalities and learning levels in a classroom environment.
  • Successful clearance of fingerprinting requirements through the AHCA Clearinghouse or willingness to complete new fingerprinting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Position Details:

  • Location: Jacksonville, FL (one school location, pending confirmation).
  • Contract duration: ASAP start through May 28, 2026.
  • Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day).
  • This is an onsite-only position (not open to virtual or remote work options).
