Role Impact
The Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant (Loan Processor) ensures the accurate and timely processing of residential mortgage loans from application through closing. This role directly impacts borrower satisfaction and loan cycle times by maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, coordinating with underwriting and closing teams, and delivering consistent communication throughout the process. Success is defined by clean files, on-time closings, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
• Process mortgage loans from set-up to closing by verifying, compiling, and entering borrower information into the loan origination system (LOS)
• Review and analyze loan documentation including credit reports, income documentation, appraisals, and title work
• Confirm compliance with underwriting guidelines, TRID (TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure) requirements, and federal/state lending regulations
• Coordinate with borrowers, underwriters, and closing teams to clear conditions and ensure all documentation is complete prior to funding
• Prepare closing disclosures and review principal, interest, and closing costs with borrowers
• Monitor loan pipelines to ensure closing dates and internal deadlines are met
• Maintain confidentiality of borrower information and provide proactive communication throughout the loan process
Minimum Qualifications
• 3–5 years of mortgage loan processing experience
• Working knowledge of consumer mortgage documentation, underwriting guidelines, TRID, and federal/state compliance regulations
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume pipelines and meet strict deadlines
Core Tools & Systems
• Loan Origination Systems (LOS), including Calyx (preferred)
• Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Adobe Acrobat and document management systems
• Email and internal communication platforms
• Automated underwriting and compliance systems
Preferred Skills
• 1+ year of mortgage closing experience
• Experience processing VA (Veterans Affairs) loans
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
