Marketing Specialist - Member Engagement & Lifecycle

Reports to: Director of Marketing
Position Overview
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing post-conversion marketing strategies that enhance the member experience, drive engagement, and improve retention across the Obesity Medicine Association. This role focuses on optimizing the full member lifecycle after acquisition—from onboarding through renewal—while also supporting revenue growth through education marketing and learner engagement within OMA Academy and cultivating communication for exhibitors, sponsors, and conference attendees.
Key Responsibilities
- Member Onboarding & Welcome Experience: Lead and optimize onboarding communications, materials, and automated journeys to drive early engagement and satisfaction.
- Membership Renewal & Retention: Manage and improve renewal campaigns and retention strategies using data, automation, and targeted outreach to reduce churn and increase lifetime value.
- Member Engagement & Benefit Utilization: Drive awareness and usage of key member benefits through coordinated communications and cross-team collaboration.
- Education & Product Marketing: Execute data-driven upsell and cross-sell strategies, personalized campaigns, and lifecycle marketing to increase course engagement and revenue.
- Organizational Communications & Member Programs: Serve as the central marketing contact for member-facing initiatives, ensuring clear, consistent communication aligned with brand and organizational goals.
- Event Engagement & Lifecycle Marketing: Plan and deliver event marketing strategies that support attendee (including exhibit & sponsors) communication, engagement, and follow-up across the full event life cycle.
- Corporate Partnership Support: Support fulfillment and execution of corporate partnership initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of marketing assets and alignment with partner expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in marketing, preferably in association, healthcare, or membership-based organizations is required. 5-7 years of experience is preferred.
- Experience with marketing automation platforms and a strong understanding of email marketing best practices, deliverability, and lifecycle marketing.
- Experience managing multi-channel campaigns (email, direct mail, digital engagement).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and optimize performance.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, medical associations, or professional membership organizations.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and member databases.
- Experience supporting event marketing and attendee engagement strategies.
- Experience with lifecycle marketing strategies for education products or online learning platforms.
Salary Range: $58,000-65,000
The Marketing Specialist I role functions in a hybrid work environment with weekly in-office attendance required. Candidates must live proximal (within reasonable driving distance) to the OMA's office headquarters in Centennial, CO.
