Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A substitute paraprofessional position is available to support two first-grade students participating in an Autism-specific program at an elementary school in Flinstone, GA. This role is ideal for individuals with experience working with children who have special needs, particularly those who are non-verbal or low verbal and use assistive technology devices. The substitute will provide supervision during out-of-class activities, including lunch, recess, and other social interactions, facilitating a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise two first-grade students during lunch (10:35-11:00), recess (12:15-12:35), and activity time (12:40-1:25).
• Support students with Autism who may exhibit behaviors such as crying, self-hitting, and difficulty with turn-taking and staying on task.
• Ensure a safe and positive environment by closely monitoring students' activities and needs.
• Collaborate with the existing Autism program team to follow behavioral and instructional guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Must have or be willing to obtain one of the following certifications: GA RESA Substitute Certificate or GaPSC Paraprofessional Certificate.
• Experience working with children in special education or Autism programs is highly preferred.
• Ability to manage behavior challenges compassionately and effectively.
• Strong communication skills and familiarity with assistive technology devices are a plus.

Location: Flinstone, GA (Chattanooga Valley Elementary School)
