ABOUT THE DC PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL BOARD (DC PCSB)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Partnerships Specialist reports to the Senior Manager of Partnerships and supports the External Affairs Department of DC PCSB in advancing DC PCSB’s strategic priorities by ensuring strong lines of communication between the agency and external partners, with a special focus on community partners, nonprofits, and education advocates. The Partnerships Specialist will serve as a primary liaison to non-governmental partners, helping to strengthen relationships, surface opportunities, and ensure clear, timely communication between organizations and DC PCSB. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on relationship-building, clear communication, and staying one step ahead of what schools need to succeed.

Core Responsibilities:

● Serve as the primary liaison for non-governmental partners, including education nonprofits, foundations, higher education institutions, and partner organizations providing services or programs.

● Identify, cultivate, and maintain partnerships that align with agency priorities and support student success.

● Represent DC PCSB and serve as a liaison at events, public meetings, and citywide convenings focused on various topics, including health, safety, and well-being.

● Support event collaborations and resource-sharing partnerships

● Collaborate with key leaders to clarify DC PCSB’s role and positioning within external task forces and working groups.

● Produce and distribute the Wednesday Bulletin, DC PCSB’s weekly newsletter for public charter school leaders and partners, ensuring timely and accurate information on policies, events, resources, and compliance updates.

● Collaborate with the Communications Team to support content for the agency’s website, social media, and digital campaigns related to partnerships.

● Support coordination of agency-wide projects (e.g., New Charter Leader Orientation, Rainbow Graduation, external survey request).

● Track and manage school and partner engagement records, including event attendance and outreach activities.

● Serve on relevant citywide task forces, as needed.

● Perform additional responsibilities in support of the department’s mission.

Competencies and Qualifications

Writing, Editing & Content Development: Experience writing, editing, and developing content for newsletters and public-facing materials.

Strategic Partnerships & Relationship Management: Ability to engage thoughtfully and respectfully with a wide range of individuals and groups, including school leaders and partners.

Communication & Influence: Balances active listening with assertive communication to address concerns and propose solutions. Proactively shares honest feedback and opinions, contributing to team success while fostering an inclusive environment.

Supporting Projects & Managing Events: Skilled in organizing and executing multiple tasks or initiatives simultaneously. Demonstrates attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to meet deadlines.

● Proactive and innovative in identifying opportunities and addressing challenges. Comfortable working independently while staying aligned with broader goals.

● At least 3 years of experience in a communications, partnerships, or external affairs role.

● A bachelor’s degree and experience working in a mission-driven or education-focused organization are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary is competitive and commensurate with prior experience in a similar role. DC PCSB offers a comprehensive benefits plan covering 100% of the employee’s insurance premium. Our compensation system includes a non-negotiation policy to foster fair compensation practices within our organization. The salary range for this role is $70,898 - $82,141.
