A full-time Registered Nurse opportunity is available in the Med/Surg Oncology unit at a 288-bed acute care hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. This facility serves Leon and Gadsden Counties and includes a dedicated Cancer Center as part of its comprehensive specialty services. This role offers the chance to provide meaningful, patient-centered care within a supportive oncology environment.
The Oncology RN is responsible for delivering holistic nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment and medical-surgical care. This includes collecting and analyzing patient data, identifying clinical concerns, and developing individualized care plans with clearly defined outcomes. The nurse acts as a patient advocate while collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high-quality care. A key focus of the role is patient and family education, offering guidance on medications, procedures, and treatment plans while providing ongoing emotional and clinical support throughout the patient’s hospital stay.
Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive patient assessments for oncology and med/surg patients.

Develop and implement individualized care plans based on clinical findings.

Monitor patient progress and adjust care interventions as needed.

Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.

Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and medications.

Advocate for patient safety and coordinate care within the interdisciplinary team.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing care.

Support patients and families throughout the cancer care journey.
Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of recent acute care Med/Surg RN experience required.

Active Florida RN license or approved multistate compact RN license required (Florida licensure within 60 days if applicable).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred; required within six months of hire.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills.
Schedule:

Day shift (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) with rotating weekends

Night shift (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) with rotating weekends
