The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA), founded in 1891, is a nonprofit organization whose objective is to "promote, influence, and assist in financing the varsity athletic programs of the midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy" in accordance with the policy of the Superintendent of the Academy. Through an intercollegiate athletics program that is one of the largest in the country, every midshipman is afforded the opportunity to compete in athletics at the Division I level. The emphasis on physical fitness is borne out in the first line of the mission of the U.S. Naval Academy: To develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically.

Summary

Responsible for directing the daily operations of the Naval Academy Baseball program. Assists the Head Coach with the management, administration, and execution of the program. Adheres to the philosophy and objectives of the Naval Academy varsity intercollegiate athletics program. Ensures timely and accurate internal and external communications. Duties include, but are not limited to, baseball administrative budget input and oversight, assisting the administration with team logistics and travel, facilities coordination, field scheduling, meal coordination, academic oversight, and internal support duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists Head Coach in developing and implementing operating plan, budgetary guidelines, and logistical support for Navy Baseball
  • Works with equipment manager to recruit, direct and supervise all student-managers
  • Works closely with the Head Coach, NAAA staff and Academy staff relative to the academic progress of the student-athletes under their supervision.
  • Coordinates all travel arrangements for in and out of season travel
  • Maintains close working relationships with faculty rep, officer rep, compliance director, admissions, equipment staff, gameday operations, sports information, sport marketing, sports medicine, and sport nutrition
  • Serve as POC for all visiting teams; provide visiting team guide/timing sheets; coordinate practice time/laundry needs
  • Oversee assignment of umpires and communicates all necessary information regarding games/schedule changes/lodging arrangements
  • Manage installation and maintenance of baseball technology/video equipment
  • Organize all nutrition orders with Midshipmen Food Services, coordinate pick-up/deliveries, and maintain nutrition station
  • Create and distribute unofficial/official visit itineraries, secure travel, communicate with prospective student athletes & families pre & post visit
  • Responsible for all aspects of recruiting visits - meals, travel, lodging, rental cars, compliance, football tickets, reconciliation of expenses
  • Maintain communication with Friends of Navy Baseball and manage financial support
  • Oversee all baseball subscriptions/accounts and manage ABCA memberships
  • Establish and maintain community relationships/plan unique opportunities for Midshipman participation
  • Oversee Alumni correspondence/events
  • Maintain up to date roster information and alert all departments with student athlete status changes
  • Coordinate Fall/Summer camps and communicate with Navy Sports Camps office on staffing/registration/schedule matters

Qualifications

  • Experience, Education, & Certification(s)
    1. Bachelor degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
    2. At least 3 years of experience in Division I baseball is preferred.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.
  • Must be eligible to work on a military installation, including a willingness to submit to a background screen.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Pay Range

$55,000-$65,000
