Job Title: Production Assembler II

Job Description

The Production Assembler II supports manufacturing operations to ensure products are completed accurately and on time to meet customer deadlines. This role involves receiving products, entering them into the system, cleaning and inspecting components for wear or damage, performing basic functional software testing, and disassembling and replacing parts according to detailed work orders. You follow established production standards, policies, and procedures, receive general instructions on routine work and detailed guidance on new assignments, and play a key role in maintaining product quality through careful documentation and adherence to instructions. This position is on 1st shift from 5:45 am-2:15 pm with overtime available on Saturday or during the week as needed per client.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming products, verify them against documentation, and accurately enter all required information into the computer system.
  • Review and follow detailed written work instructions at the start of each assignment to ensure tasks are completed correctly and consistently.
  • Disassemble products as specified in work orders, identifying and removing worn, broken, or defective parts.
  • Clean products and components using approved cleaning solutions and methods to prepare them for reassembly or further processing.
  • Inspect parts and assemblies for wear, damage, or defects, and follow the "see something, say something" policy by documenting and reporting any issues.
  • Perform basic functional testing of software updates on products as required to confirm proper operation.
  • Reassemble products using basic hand and power tools, torque tools, and other equipment according to mechanical and electrical assembly requirements.
  • Follow in-house quality procedures to ensure all parts and finished assemblies meet production and quality standards.
  • Use a computer daily to access and complete work orders, training modules, and documentation tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of work performed, including defects found, parts replaced, and testing completed.
  • Work at an individual line or station that may require a combination of standing and sitting throughout the shift.
  • Operate within established policies and procedures and seek approval for any deviations from standard processes.
  • Collaborate with technicians and other team members, following general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new or complex assignments.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including the use of ESD straps, ESD smocks, and safety glasses in designated areas.
  • Support production goals by maintaining productivity, meeting daily targets, and being available for overtime during the week and on Saturdays as needed.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with basic mechanical or electrical assembly using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to use torque tools and other basic production tools safely and accurately.
  • Strong reading and writing skills to follow detailed work instructions and complete documentation.
  • Comfort with heavy daily computer usage for work orders, documentation, and training.
  • Ability to perform in-house quality checks and identify defective or worn parts.
  • Mechanically inclined, with the ability to understand how parts fit and function together.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to frequently reach at waist level and occasionally reach above the head.
  • Ability to carry up to 10 pounds and lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently push, pull, bend, kneel, and stoop.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use basic hand tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing or assembly experience in environments such as electronics, general production, or assembly line work.
  • Experience in roles that involve working with hands, such as automotive service or similar mechanical roles.
  • Familiarity with document control and production documentation practices.
  • Experience with general labor tasks in a production or warehouse setting.
  • Comfort working with cleaning solutions and following safe handling procedures.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to following established processes and quality standards.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in extensive training to build skills and advance within the organization.

Work Environment

The work environment is clean, well-lit, and temperature-controlled, ensuring a comfortable setting that is never too hot or too cold. Work takes place at a line or individual station equipped with a computer for accessing work orders, documentation, and training. The role involves a combination of standing and sitting throughout the shift, with a standard first shift schedule of 5:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, and overtime opportunities during the week and on Saturdays as needed. You regularly use basic hand and power tools, torque tools, cleaning solutions, and computer systems as part of daily tasks. Safety and electrostatic protection are important, so you wear ESD straps and an ESD smock, and use safety glasses in designated areas. The facility maintains a clean, organized production floor and offers an updated break room with snack options via a kiosk, contributing to a comfortable and supportive work setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
