Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Opportunity: Pathologist

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at our organization in Albany, NY, is on the lookout for a board-certified pathologist in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP). This role involves engaging in clinical services related to Gynecological and/or Genitourinary pathology within an academic environment. While fellowship training in the relevant field is preferred, it is not mandatory. A secondary area of interest in Anatomic Pathology is advantageous.

Our department prioritizes a collaborative work atmosphere that encourages mutual growth through rewarding mentorship opportunities. We also emphasize wellness and work-life balance, offering professional coaching, a structured peer-support system, generous personal and academic leave policies, and dedicated time for professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sign out GYN and/or GU pathology cases.
  • Participate in shared AP call and provide non-forensic autopsy coverage (averaging fewer than 4 autopsies per pathologist per year).
  • Engage in teaching activities, including:
    • One-on-one and group sign-out sessions with residents, medical students, and visiting observers.
    • Delivering didactic lectures, conducting unknown slide conferences, and supervising residents' presentations such as journal clubs, gross conferences, and grand rounds.
  • Contribute to translational research and medical student education, tailored to individual interests and departmental needs.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is competitive and based on experience and academic rank, ranging from $224,000 to $336,500. This stated range reflects the base salary only; total compensation will also include an initial sign-on bonus and a substantial quarterly incentive component.
