Job DescriptionStaff Accountant Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting operations within a farming environment. This role will primarily focus on grower accounting while also assisting with general ledger functions and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced, seasonal industry and has a strong understanding of agricultural accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant Maintain accurate grower accounts, including settlements, advances, payments, and reconciliationsPrepare and review grower statements ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with agreementsTrack production costs, grower expenses, and allocations related to farming operationsAssist with general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysisSupport month-end and year-end close processesReconcile inventory, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities related to agricultural operationsCollaborate with operations, field staff, and management to resolve discrepancies and provide financial supportAssist with audits, internal reporting, and special accounting projects as needed
Qualifications of the Staff Accountant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, nice but not necessary2+ years of accounting experience Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reportingProficient in Excel; experience with accounting or ERP systems preferredStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
