Job DescriptionPostion: Manager of Grants, Fundraising, and Giving - Non-profitReports to: Executive DirectorStatus: Full Time, ExemptHours: Monday – Friday with occasional nights and weekends requiredCommittees: Development, any ad hoc event committeesOverviewA full-time position reporting to the Executive Director, The position of 'Development Manager' plays a key role in all fundraising projects and programs, collaborates on external communications, and events. Individual Giving Responsibilities
- Works with the Executive Director and Communications Specialist to create and implement annual development plan, create a budget, and achieve defined financial goals.
- Manage all fundraising activities including, annual fund, major gifts, grants and special events.
- Manage a portfolio of donors; including donor relations, cultivation, communications and donor recognition.
- Manages relationships with corporate partners/sponsors.
- Oversees all aspects of grants; including grant research, writing/editing, tracking. Key function is preparing Development reports to the Board of Directors.
- Leads major donor solicitation effort working with Executive Director to solicit and maintain a portfolio of donors.
- Oversees the Communications Specialist, providing guidance and structure to all communication efforts, including print materials, social media, online campaigns, and community messaging.
Grant Seeking Responsibilities
- Manage research and submission of grant proposals and letters of intent.
- Coordinate the review, finalization and execution of grant documents.
- Oversees all aspects of grant fundraising including grant research, writing/editing grant applications and proposals, tracking, and reporting.
- Improve and maintain internal processes and schedules related to development of funding proposals.
Corporate Relations & Fundraising Responsibilities
- With the Executive Director, strategize the direction and growth of corporate fundraising.
- Cultivate, steward, solicit, and maintain relationships and volunteer opportunities with corporate groups.
- Design and implement an effective corporate donor stewardship program.
- Develop, in collaboration with the House Operations Manager, volunteer communication strategies and impact with corporate volunteer groups.
- Maintain relationships with group/corporate volunteers, always with the Development lens, i.e. all volunteers are prospects.
Administration
- Attends weekly staff meeting.
- Attends trainings or workshops as necessary.
- Keeps accurate records to maintain integrity of donor database.
- Maintains current knowledge of fundraising trends and best practices.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to represent JW House and maintain good relations with donors, grantors, staff and volunteers.
- Ability to establish relationships with foundation, corporate, and major individual donors.
- College degree or equivalent work experience.
- Highly organized and able to multi-task.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Database experience desirable and knowledge of Bloomerang a plus.
- Experience with volunteer management a plus.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish also a plus.
