Job DescriptionGeneral Description

Under the supervision of the Director of BOP, this position shall be responsible for routine and special clerical duties required for the management and operations of the Employment Department, in compliance with contracting agencies and company policies and procedures.

Required knowledge, Abilities and Experience:

Knowledge of:

  • Modern Office principles and protocol;
  • Modern Office equipment including personal computer;
  • Strong skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
  • Effective written and oral business communication.

Ability to:

  • Handling a variety of correspondence, reports and other communication for the department staff.
  • Providing technological support for the department staff
  • Developing and maintaining manual file systems and computer data bases appropriate for staff
  • Operating all standard office machine & computer software, including Windows XP, MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel
  • Communicate effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Manage time and prioritize activities to meet responsibilities and duties of this position.
  • Give attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, contracting agencies and other vendors.
  • Meet the Department of Corrections clearance requirements; and execute all duties in accordance with this position description.

Academic and Work Experience:

This position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) with advanced office training, and at least three years of satisfactory performance as a secretary (or equivalent), or an associate’s degree in business and the demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
