Operations Dispatcher
Sarasota, FL
Assignment Length: 12 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pay: $23/hr
This role keeps the Meter Services team running smoothly by managing the full lifecycle of work orders — creation, prioritization, dispatching, and follow-up. You’ll oversee daily workflow, communicate with field staff and internal departments, and ensure tasks move without delays. Strong attention to detail and clear communication are key, as you’ll serve as the central point of coordination between field personnel, Customer Service, Billing, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Workflow Monitoring & Completion (40%)
- Track progress of all work orders to ensure on-time completion.
- Verify accuracy and closure of completed work.
- Identify bottlenecks and troubleshoot delays.
- Produce status and completion reports as needed.
Prioritizing Work Orders (20%)
- Review, assess, and rank work orders based on urgency and departmental guidelines.
- Adjust priorities as circumstances change.
- Maintain an organized list of active and upcoming work.
Dispatching Work Orders (10%)
- Assign tasks to field staff based on skills, workload, and geographic coverage.
- Communicate clear instructions and relevant details.
- Track progress of dispatched work.
Creating Work Orders (10%)
- Generate new work orders from county requests and service inputs.
- Ensure all entries are accurate and complete.
- Input work orders into the appropriate systems.
Communication & Coordination (10%)
- Act as the main point of contact for all work order updates.
- Provide status reports, delay notices, and issue resolutions to stakeholders.
- Support field staff with questions or concerns and escalate issues as needed.
Other Duties (10%)
- Support planners with sorting tasks and administrative workflow.
- Assist with departmental needs as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or technical training preferred
- One to two years of experience in administrative support, customer service, dispatching, scheduling, or related work
- Experience working with work order systems, databases, or similar software
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate between departments and field personnel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
