Job Description

Job DescriptionIf you love people, purpose, and spreadsheets… this might be your dream job.

About the Role

As our Program Manager, you’ll be the friendly force that keeps our programs running smoothly and our volunteers, educators, and partners feeling supported. Think of yourself as the ultimate connector: part relationship‑builder, part logistics wizard, part cheerleader for our mission. Every day looks a little different — and that’s exactly what makes it fun.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep program quality high by communicating clearly, visiting classrooms, sharing updates, and using evaluation tools
  • Grow and strengthen our volunteer and partner community
  • Lead creative recruitment and retention strategies that bring in great volunteers and keep them coming back
  • Manage the behind‑the‑scenes magic that makes our programs run (scheduling, logistics, delivery models, you name it)
  • Host in‑person or virtual trainings that leave volunteers feeling confident and excited
  • Keep our database organized and up‑to‑date
  • Gather stories, data, and insights to help in meetings, grants, and reports
  • Deliver top‑tier customer service to everyone who interacts with our programs

What You Bring

Accountability

  • You own your goals and deliver on them

  • You stay calm under pressure and shift into problem‑solving mode when things get tricky

  • You work well solo and with a team

Active Engagement

  • You show up with energy, enthusiasm, and a “let’s make this great” attitude

  • You’re the kind of teammate people enjoy collaborating with

Growth & Improvement

  • You’re curious, eager to learn, and always looking to level up

  • You welcome stretch projects because they help you grow

Teamwork (The JA Way)

  • You pitch in to help the team meet deadlines

  • You communicate openly and stay approachable

  • You’re flexible, supportive, and able to navigate different personalities with ease

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education, project management, volunteer coordination, sales, or development

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment

  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and motivated

  • Comfortable working with diverse groups

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit program management

  • Familiarity with the K–12 education world

Why You’ll Love This Role

You’ll get to build relationships, support volunteers, empower educators, and help create meaningful learning experiences for students. If you enjoy variety, collaboration, and making a real impact, you’ll feel right at home here.
