About LBCEI
The Long Beach Center for Economic Inclusion (LBCEI) is a non-profit Community Development Corporation with a mission of expanding inclusive economic opportunities to build and sustain wealth for all communities in Long Beach. We envision a Long Beach where entrepreneurs, youth, workers, and individuals have the tools and opportunities to successfully build vibrant neighborhoods, successful businesses, and healthy, resilient families. LBCEI seeks out community organizations that support economic opportunities and connects them to resources that help them expand the work they are doing in underserved communities.

About this Position
This role is ideal for someone who has a passionfor economic inclusion and is excited at the opportunity to shape a young nonprofit organization and build a small team. The Executive Director will direct the strategic and operational responsibility of LBCEI strategic partnerships and their associated programs, organizational development and expansion, and execution of LBCEI’s mission.

The Executive Director acts as chief spokesperson and advocate for LBCEI and will interface with community partners and financial supporters including corporations, foundations, and public agencies. The initial annual fundraising expectation will be to raise funds to cover the cost of operations, organizational overhead, and program expenses which is estimated to be between $300,000 - $500,000 annually.

Key Priorities for the Executive Director

  • Conduct a needs assessment and develop an action plan.
  • Develop plans for raising annual organizational expenses from diverse revenue sources.
  • Ensure successful implementation and administration of established programs.
  • Broaden relationships with key elected officials, funders, foundations, and strategic partners.
  • Strengthen the infrastructure of LBCEI.
  • Hire staff and secure interns and volunteers.
  • Facilitate Board development efforts, including Board recruitment.


Education and Experience

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, community development, fundraising or related experience required. Equivalent experience in the private or public sector with strong community engagement will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.


Qualifications

  • ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENT – Familiar with the principles of managing people and nonprofit organizations.
  • FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT – Use systems of internal controls to account for and report all receipts and expenditures of funds; understand budgeting and forecasting and know how to read standard financial reports such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • LEADERSHIP AND INITIATIVE – Thinks strategically; able to create and communicate a vision of the future and empower people toward its realization; provides strong leadership and strategic planning both internally and externally; displays initiative in developing action plans and resolving problems as they occur; has strong interpersonal skills and abilities; can organize and deploy resources.
  • DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING – Familiar with various forms of fundraising and development in the nonprofit sector; prepared to develop, build and lead a fundraising strategy.
  • COMMUNICATIONS – Has strong writing and speaking skills; able to communicate effectively with multiple internal and external audiences with varying backgrounds and interests.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and both internal and external stakeholders.


Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is between $90,000 – $105,000 and includes the following benefits:

  • Health benefit allowance.
  • 2 weeks of paid time off (PTO).
  • 10 paid holidays.
