Job DescriptionCommitted to unlocking the potential of every child, the IWS Children’s Clinic, owned and operated by the OPRF Infant Welfare Society, is a full-service primary care clinic providing comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health and social services for children in need.
Position Title: Part-Time Pediatrician Reports to: Medical Director
Position Summary: Provide comprehensive primary care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults from birth through age 21 in a mission‑driven, low‑income pediatric clinic setting.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Provide appropriate patient care services including examination, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric patients according to established standards and protocols.
  • Provide well-child routine physicals and developmental assessments.
  • Prescribe and administer medications.
  • Diagnose and treat ADHD.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and document a plan of care and treatment.
  • Initiate early intervention for developmental delay and disabilities.
  • Appropriately make referrals to other medical/nursing/specialty services as needed.
  • Perform health maintenance/disease prevention counseling.
  • Provide chronic disease management.
  • Provide timely childhood immunizations.
  • Provide advice to parents on child development, nutrition, safety, and discipline.
  • Review all lab test reports/referral reports and notify parents/patients on abnormal findings.
  • Supervise and direct patient care performed by medical assistants.
  • Assist Medical Director in the development and implementation of pediatric protocols and procedures.
  • Keep well-informed of new developments in a specific area of practice by attending in-services, CME classes, and other certifications.
  • Work collaboratively with clinic social worker to provide behavioral health and case management services to patients as needed.
  • Adhere to clinic guidelines and standing orders.
  • Participate in mentoring nurse practitioner and medical students.
  • Maintain the spirit of teamwork to provide a caring respectful environment for the patients, families, and clinic staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Specialized advanced knowledge and skill in diagnosis and treatment of disease in children (0-22 years old).Exposure to public health medicine. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from accredited medical school, Foreign medical graduates must have passed FLEX or ESMFG exams.
  • Completion of a three-year approved pediatric residency training program in the U.S.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois
  • Board certified in Pediatric Medicine
