Job Title: Upstream – Safety Advisor II
Location: Midland Big Spring Office – must live in Midland or nearby
Schedule: 5/2 | ~50 hours per week (OT included)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor II with a production-focused safety background (not drilling-only) to support upstream oil and gas operations. This role provides safety and health expertise to site leadership and EPC contractors, ensuring safe project execution and compliance with company SSHE standards. The position is field-heavy, requiring up to 200 miles of travel per day and significant time spent outdoors (50–90% field-based).Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of the Safety Management System across production operations
- Assist with safety processes including risk assessment, asset integrity, contractor safety, and incident investigations
- Conduct field inspections of oil & gas production facilities, construction sites, and support operations
- Partner with site leadership to identify safety concerns and implement corrective actions
- Participate in safety studies and compliance activities (PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, incident investigations, audits, insurance surveys)
- Prepare, analyze, and report safety performance metrics
- Build strong working relationships with operations and contractors to promote a proactive safety culture
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted
- 10–15 years of safety and health background, with a strong focus on production operations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to deliver excellence in SSHE performance within oil & gas environments
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and industry safety regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication skills and ability to connect with diverse teams (“people person”)
- Must be fit for duty: ability to work in field/construction environments, climb ladders/stairs, and tolerate weather extremes
- Must live in Midland or the immediate vicinity
- Willingness to travel daily (up to 200 miles) within the region
Work Conditions & Additional Info
- Schedule: 5/2 (Mon–Fri) with ~50 hrs/week including overtime
- Field-heavy role: 50%–90% of time in the field
- Travel: daily travel within the Midland area; no per diem, relocation, or on-call pay (unless called out)
- Must provide professional presence in both field and office settings
