Position Summary
We seek a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to successfully record daily business transactions in sales, purchasing, and cash receipting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting software, with the ability to handle multiple accounting functions, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. This role is essential in contributing to the financial health of our organization. In this “hands-on” position, key responsibilities will span full-cycle accounting, month-end/year-end processes, and strategic/special projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume accounts payable invoices, investigate and resolve discrepancies, track early-pay discounts, and administer payments.
- Process high-volume accounts receivable client invoices, tax exempt forms, cash receipting, and credit card payments.
- Manage some accounts receivable collections.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual multi-state sales/use tax filings and payments.
- Facilitate bank statement reconciliations.
- Administer company credit card reconciliations and process employee expense reports.
- Participate in bi-annual inventory physical counts and investigate, reconcile, and report variances.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closings.
- Assist in credit application review process.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all bookkeeping activities for audit purposes.
- Strategic/special projects as needed.
- Other accounting responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a distribution, construction, or manufacturing environment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting ERP software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, time management, and attention to detail skills.
- Proficiency in 10-key typing for data entry accuracy and efficiency.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members, clients, and vendors.
- Self-directed with initiative and flexibility.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
