Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Provide specialized nursing care for patients in pre-operative, Phase I, and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery stages in a dynamic Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) environment. This contract opportunity allows experienced registered nurses to apply their critical care skills in assessing surgical patients, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a smooth transition from surgery to recovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver attentive care to patients before surgery and throughout the phases of post-operative recovery.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care to monitor incision sites, body temperature, and other vital stability indicators.
  • Operate essential medical equipment including Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP and Phillips Monitors.
  • Collaborate closely with surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 2 years of critical care RN experience in hospital settings such as ER or ICU is required; this experience may substitute for direct PACU experience.
  • Valid State of Hawaii RN license by assignment start date.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is recommended and may be required.
  • Additional specialty certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) are preferred depending on the position.

Schedule:

  • Flexible shifts including 8, 10, and 12-hour options covering days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • On call shifts 0-3 times per month including 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage.

Additional Important Details:

  • Candidates must arrive the Thursday before their start date to complete employee health appointments.
  • Flu vaccination proof or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start.
