Job DescriptionSalary: $16.75-18/hr depending on experience
The Duluth Bethel is seeking a Assistant Kitchen Manager/Cook for our non-profit residential treatment and correctional facility. Must be willing to consent to a background check, and, if chemically dependent, be free from problematic substance abuse for at least one year.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! This is a great way for someone in recovery to give back!
Essential Functions:
- Must have good oral and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have ability and willingness to work with a difficult to serve population.
- Must follow standardized dietician approved recipes/menu and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
- Estimate the required quantities of food for meals.
- Help prepare food ordering and oversee stocking of supplies.
- Help direct, schedule, and train cooks.
- Know and follow health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
- Must have ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, lift, and be able to carry up to 50 pounds.
- Help prepare monthly menus with the Food Services Manager.
- Be familiar with all dishes and ingredients on Bethel menus and be able to accommodate special diets.
- Maintain records as assigned.
- Be flexible to on-call situations as necessary.
Other requirements:
- Ability to clear criminal background study.
- Two years prior experience in institutional cooking preferred but not is not required.
- Must obtain food handlers license (Paid by Bethel).
- Attend employee mandated trainings.
