Job Overview and Qualifications
As a registered nurse, your primary responsibility will be to deliver prescribed medical treatments and personal care to patients who are ill or injured. Your tasks will include documenting observations, assessments, and any changes in the patient's condition; collaborating with healthcare team members to promote positive patient care outcomes; providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with various physical and/or behavioral issues; and ensuring compliance with qualification standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the patient's condition upon admission and during each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in their status.
- Carry out procedures, monitoring, or other tasks as directed by medical providers, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of care in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient's response, and take appropriate actions in case of any adverse reactions.
- Deliver outstanding care by responding swiftly to patient requests, anticipating their needs, and addressing them proactively.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up procedures, ensuring they fully understand by simplifying complex medical terminology.
Qualifications Required:
Licensure/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a Compact state
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
Educational Background:
- Completion of an RN or LVN program leading to licensure
- Ability to read and write basic English, with the skills necessary to comprehend and relay physician's orders
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience:
- No prior experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Preferred BSN
- Relevant specialty certification or training
- Ability to read and write basic English, with the skills necessary to understand and relay physician's orders
- Capability to lift over 100 pounds with assistance from other staff members
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively to ensure quality patient care
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
