Job Summary:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting functions that include day-to-day transaction processing, reconciliations, payroll processing, and financial analysis. This role supports the finance department by ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, facilitating month-end close processes, and participating in special projects to enhance financial performance and compliance. This role is ideal for a detail oriented professional who thrives on a variety in their work and enjoys contributing to both routing financial processes and strategic financial analysis projects.
Accounting Specialist responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable & Expense Management: Input vendor bills, manage employee credit card reporting and approvals, and verify compliance with internal policies.

Journal Entries & Accruals: Post regular and month-end journal entries.

Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements, cash deposits, and data between the POS and ERP systems.

Variance & Budget Analysis: Investigate financial report discrepancies and compare location budgets against actual expenses (meals, supplies, incentives).

Sales & Partner Reporting: Develop sales spreadsheets and compile sales analysis reports for partners.

Intercompany & Gift Card Tracking: Prepare intercompany receivables/payables monthly and confirm accurate recording of gift cards and promotional items.

Retirement Plan Administration: Manage SIMPLE IRA funding processes and support internal compensation reporting.

Billing Accuracy Oversight: Review billing accuracy for ADP payroll, retirement contributions, and United Healthcare.

Tax & Compliance Support: Coordinate 1099 preparation, assist with tax return prep (with Forvis), and perform tax-related research.

Asset & Performance Analysis: Track fixed asset changes, maintain property insurance spreadsheets, analyze inventory, service costs, and gross margins, and engage in ongoing financial performance projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Advanced Excel skills required, including proficiency with PivotTables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, data analysis functions, and basic data visualization tools (charts, graphs, conditional formatting).
- 2+ years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a corporate setting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Skills:
