Job Summary:
The Home Warranty and Services’ goal is to be courteous, prompt, efficient, and honest with all our homeowners in an effort to provide total satisfaction on warranty requests. The Warranty & Construction Lead will use exceptional communication skills with our homeowners to ensure and maintain homeowner satisfaction. This position assists the Construction department in all aspects of construction activity and volunteer management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Home Warranties
- Provide customer satisfaction that reflects HHFH’s core values and guiding principles.
- Coordinate and schedule all warranty activity to provide effective, efficient, systematic, and sequential flow of work according to the established warranty process.
- Assist homeowners in a timely, competent, and courteous manner with any problems, questions, or work order requests.
- Oversee all warranty operations and general customer service.
- Answer all homeowner phone calls and respond to their emails in a timely, friendly, and professional manner.
- Effectively communicate with the homeowner on all issues pertaining to the construction/warranty of their home.
- Instruct homeowners on how to maintain their homes as well as communicating what items are not warrantable.
- Instruct Homeowners in a classroom environment to teach all areas in home maintenance.
- Establish and maintain positive customer relationships, both internally and externally.
- Deny request when necessary and overcome objections in a professional manner.
- A positive attitude and good social/interpersonal skills are essential.
- Verify, update, and maintain customer and property information in related databases; verify information is correct in all outgoing correspondence and documents.
- Performs all punch-list items before closing of house, always cleans and maintains house to be presentable for dedications, presentations, and before closing.
- Coordinates with Field Superintendent to present house to homeowners.
Construction & Volunteers
- Ensure that communications to volunteers are respectful, accurate and timely.
- Serve as a crew leader as needed.
- Assists in identifying volunteer jobs/needs not currently filled and satisfy the need with appropriate volunteers.
- Assists in greeting volunteers and orienting them about the build day.
- Oversee crews of volunteers and Habitat family partners in building homes.
- Frame and general carpentry work on single family homes from start up to dry in stage.
- Follow safety standards and ensure safety standards are followed by volunteers.
- Understand elements that contribute to successful volunteers and helps ensure that volunteers have a consistently positive, encouraging, environment thus motivating them to return.
- Adheres to construction schedule and prevents delays.
- Assist with the breakdown of jobsite temporary facilities (storage, power etc.)
- Perform construction repair or renovation of used homes in various areas of construction.
- Work as a team to maintain vehicles, forklifts, and other equipment.
- Assist with wall builds in warehouse or offsite with volunteer crews.
- Delivery and installation of appliances before closing date.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
Education, Experience & Skills Required
- Two to four years of strong construction finishing skills, including framing, trim work, roof trusses, finish carpentry, drywall, paint, light, plumbing and electrical.
- Minimum of three years experience with residential construction, warranty experience is a plus.
- Understand & interprets all aspects of HHFH construction & design
- Working knowledge of the use of construction related material & tools including power tools
- Must be a self-starter with good communication skills
- Exhibit patience and flexibility with homeowners
- Demonstrate a sense of community service/helping others
- Effectively represent HHFH to the public
- Adaptability to quickly changing environments
- Flexibility of working hours to accommodate homeowners warranty inspections and/or claims
- Desire to serve the community and help others
- Current and valid Texas driver’s license
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, squat, bend, climb, crouch, crawl, and use of tools
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions (hot, humid, rain and cold)
- Moderate noise level
- Generally, works from Tuesday through Saturday
