The organization focuses on delivering high-quality solutions through collaboration, continuous improvement, and a commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.In this role you will be responsible for evaluating residential mortgage loan applications to determine creditworthiness and compliance with lending guidelines. You will analyze financial documentation, assess risk, collaborate with loan officers and processors to resolve outstanding conditions, and make sound underwriting decisions while ensuring regulatory compliance and a high level of customer service.Role & Responsibility:Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success
- Perform comprehensive representation and warranty reviews of previously originated mortgage loans.
- Assess borrower creditworthiness and evaluate compliance with underwriting, closing, and investor guidelines.
- Review and validate income, assets, liabilities, credit reports, appraisals, title documentation, and supporting loan documentation.
- Recalculate income, assets, debt-to-income ratios (DTI), and other underwriting metrics as required.
- Analyze complex self-employed borrower tax returns and financial statements.
- Evaluate collateral quality through appraisal reviews and related valuation tools.
- Review fraud detection reports and identify potential risk factors.
- Review preliminary and final title policies to ensure compliance and marketability.
- Ensure adherence to federal and state mortgage regulations, including TRID, QM/ATR, TILA, RESPA, Fair Lending, and Reg Z requirements.
- Document review findings clearly, accurately, and professionally.
- Identify material exceptions and provide recommendations for remediation.
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory updates, investor requirements, and underwriting guidelines.
- Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for internal system enhancements and updates.
- Support reviews of transaction and deal documentation as needed.
- Follow internal procedures, workflows, and quality control standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining the ability to work independently.
- Timely completion of assigned underwriting and due diligence reviews.
- Accuracy and quality of underwriting analyses and documentation.
- Clear, concise, and well-supported reporting of findings.
- Consistent adherence to internal procedures and quality standards.
- Effective management of workload and deadlines.
Skills & ExperienceQualifications That Will Help You Thrive
- College Degree in business or related field preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience in the residential mortgage industry.
- Minimum 3–5 years of recent mortgage underwriting experience.
- Experience reviewing Conventional, Non-Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, Non-QM, and Business Purpose loans.
- Quality Control (QC) auditing and forensic loan review experience preferred.
- Experience working with multiple lenders, originators, and investor guidelines is highly desirable.
- Experience with condominium and cooperative (co-op) reviews preferred.
- Loan closing experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of residential mortgage underwriting, loan documentation, and title review processes.
- Knowledge of secondary market requirements and investor underwriting guidelines.
- Familiarity with mortgage compliance regulations, including TRID, RESPA, TILA, QM/ATR, Fair Lending, and Regulation Z.
- Experience using industry tools such as:
- CoreLogic
- LexisNexis
- ComplianceEase / Compliance Analyzer
- National Appraisal Registry
- PACER
- AM Best
- Ability to review Automated Underwriting System (AUS) findings, including DU and LPA reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with document imaging and workflow management systems.
