The American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) is actively recruiting local actors interested in being Standardized Patients (SPs) for assessment purposes. SPs may be asked to portray patients, family members, or medical colleagues. SPs are required to memorize short scripts (5 minutes, varying 10-20 lines) and emulate the emotional characteristics, personality traits, and body language for the characters they will be portraying. SPs will be trained to replicate their performances in a consistent and standardized manner throughout a day. For these assessments SPs are not responsible for grading or providing any feedback to the test taker. SPs will wear costumes that may include a patient gown with clothes underneath. There will be no physical exam for this role.
This work is part-time and seasonal, based in North Hills, Raleigh, NC.
Pay rate begins at $25 per hour. SPs receive a daily meal stipend for all assessment days in Raleigh. SPs receive paid training and rehearsal time.
