Position Summary
The Procurement Analyst is a data-driven role that supports and advises the procurement team by transforming purchasing, supplier, and market data into actionable insights. This individual will leverage analytical tools and methodologies to identify cost-saving opportunities, evaluate supplier performance, assess procurement risks, and recommend sourcing strategies that align with business objectives. Embedded within a manufacturing environment, this role requires someone who can bridge raw data with practical procurement decisions, enabling the team to operate more strategically and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, organize, and analyze procurement and spend data from Oracle ERP and other internal systems to identify trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reports using Power BI, Tableau, or Excel to provide real-time visibility into procurement KPIs.
- Conduct spend analysis across categories, suppliers, and business units to support strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Query and extract data from relational databases using SQL to support ad hoc reporting and deep-dive analysis.
Supplier Evaluation & Performance
- Track and analyze supplier performance metrics, including on-time delivery, quality, pricing competitiveness, and contract compliance.
- Prepare supplier performance scorecards and present findings to the procurement team to support vendor management decisions.
- Support supplier qualification and risk assessment processes by compiling financial, operational, and market data.
Market Intelligence & Benchmarking
- Research commodity pricing trends, market conditions, and industry benchmarks relevant to manufacturing procurement.
- Provide data-backed recommendations on sourcing strategies, including make-vs-buy analysis, sole-source risk, and alternative supplier identification.
- Monitor raw material and component price fluctuations that impact manufacturing cost structures.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Identify inefficiencies in procurement processes and recommend data-driven improvements to workflows, approval cycles, and purchasing practices.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to align procurement activities with production schedules and budgetary goals.
- Assist with contract analysis, purchase order review, and RFQ/RFP processes as needed.
- Support procurement team members with analytical deliverables for negotiations and category strategy development.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of professional experience in a procurement, supply chain, sourcing, or data analysis capacity within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data modeling).
- Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and querying from relational databases.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with Oracle ERP or a comparable enterprise resource planning system.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and reporting.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred
- APICS CSCP, CPSM, or similar supply chain/procurement certification.
- Exposure to metals or precision manufacturing procurement environments.
- Experience with spend analytics platforms or procurement-specific software.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies as applied to procurement operations.
