Controls Engineer | Charlotte, MI

Salary Range: $77,000 - $122,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Charlotte seeking Controls Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing processes, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other automation devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, automation, and control system issues on production lines.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control system documentation, and P&IDs.
  • Lead the commissioning, startup, and validation of new equipment and process lines.
  • Optimize existing control systems for improved efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Ensure all control system designs and implementations comply with industry standards and safety regulations.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Extensive experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell Studio 5000).
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, Ignition).
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP).
  • Demonstrated ability to commission new equipment, optimize processes, and provide advanced troubleshooting.
  • Experience with robotics, servo systems, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics and control panel layouts.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial robotics programming and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
  • Proficiency in database management and SQL for data acquisition and MES integration.
  • Familiarity with industrial vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
  • Experience with high-level programming languages (e.g., Python, C#) for data analysis or custom applications.
