Summary/Objective
Provide nursing services to consumers of The Arc Southwest Indiana and occupational nursing to employees for work related injuries.
Essential Functions:

- Participate in annual Individual Program Plan team meetings.
- Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all Physicians, Therapists and Individuals who provide a service to the consumer or the agency.
- Schedule all necessary and important medical appointments when schedule permits, in order to ensure and monitor that all paperwork is thoroughly completed and all orders are implemented.
- Based on the consumer care plan, counsels’ consumers with psychological issues relating to their disabilities to work towards rehabilitation and resumption of a healthy lifestyle as needed.
- Monitors and records all vitals.
- Pull all labs and other testing ordered.
- Ensure consumers adaptive equipment is in good working condition.
- Keeps records of consumer’s care.
- Implements appropriate protective and preventative health measures.
- Implementation of all nursing care as prescribed by a physician or as identified by consumer needs.
- Administer Core A and B training, TB skin tests, and drug tests as needed.
- Participation in State Board of Health (SBOH) and Bureau of Quality Improvement Services (BQIS) surveys.
- Complete and file all necessary paperwork.
- Control of communicable disease and infection.
- Participate in all new-hire final medication passes, supervised medication passes, and medication error retraining as needed.
- Work with physicians if medication is not covered by Medicaid.
- Audit count sheets, exchange sheets, MARs and Buddy Lists, when applicable.
- Assist in the ongoing training of staff by monitoring and scheduling in-service training as required by governing bodies.
- To participate in all surveys and coordinate the medical dept. per regulation.
- Incident report and follow up.
- Attend consumer admittance meetings, as required.
- Assess work related injuries for staff during office hours within 24 hours, complete necessary documentation and communicate steps to be taken to the Human Resources Director.
- Actively participates as a part of the Management Team, attending various team meetings on a monthly basis and to attend all home team meetings, training staff on various issues pertinent to consumer medical situations.
- Assist with Medication exchange and rewrite
- Monitor medication supplies and expired meds.
- Performs all other duties as deemed necessary and/or assigned by the Executive Director and/or Departmental Directors.
