Granger Medical is looking for a full-time Prior Authorization Specialist at our West Valley City/Fairbourne location.
***Prior Authorizations experience required.
Overview:
The ideal candidate will be confident, self-motivated, and compassionate. The Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance information and obtaining prior authorizations for scheduled procedures to ensure timely patient care and proper reimbursement.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Confirm patient insurance information and determine authorization requirements
- Obtain prior authorizations for scheduled procedures, services, and treatments
- Communicate with insurance carriers to ensure accurate and timely processing of requests
- Follow up on pending authorizations and document updates as needed
- Notify appropriate staff of authorization approvals, denials, or additional requirements
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all authorization activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency required
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and insurance authorization processes preferred
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and a positive attitude
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in healthcare, insurance verification, or prior authorizations preferred
- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds as needed
- Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and office equipment
- Work performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment
