Job Title: Instruction Designer/Training Specialist

Location: Irwindale, CA

Duration: 18 Months

Pay rate: $39/Hr on W2

Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree

Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload

  • Perform needs assessments and job/task analyses, including conducting focus groups and working with subject matter experts, to analyze training needs and business requirements.
  • Research, design, and develop training scope, timeline, and deliverables (e.g., PPTs, job aids, user guides, quick reference guides, e-learning, and virtual and instructor-led training courses) and consult with clients to determine appropriate training solution
  • Interpret and translate complex technical project information (e.g., functional specifications, test scripts, vendor documentation) into training material for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Manage client expectations, make recommendations, and communicate project status updates
  • Conduct SME focus groups/meetings to gather information for development
  • Present/facilitate train-the-trainer sessions
  • Manage multiple projects, including scope, milestones, schedules, deliverables, and resources, in support of training goals and objectives
  • Problem solve, troubleshoot, and mitigate issues related to training roadblocks
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Required Skills/Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, business, or appropriate technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of five years experience designing and developing systems and/or technical course materials
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities to identify and frame issues, synthesize information, and translate information into training requirements and content. Attention to detail, including the ability to analyze information from various sources.
  • Demonstrated skills/experience in applying instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to develop training materials
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SnagIt, and at least one eLearning software such as Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, and Camtasia
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including being adept at facilitating training (e.g., train the trainer)
  • Demonstrated ability to interface and collaborate with internal/external clients, management, vendors, stakeholders, subject matter experts, and team members to develop training solutions
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, milestones, schedules, deliverables, and resources.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, comfortable with ambiguity, and a demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Proactive, organized and a team player

Desired Skills/Attributes:

  • Experience working for a utility company
  • Experience in using Visio and SharePoint for development
  • Experience in developing training as part of an Agile software development project
  • Experience in developing training for an SAP or Salesforce software implementation
